Children's Hygiene & SSCs
Baby Teeth Matter: Even though they eventually fall out, baby teeth play a crucial role in speech development, chewing, and guiding permanent teeth.
Stainless Steel Crowns (SSCs):
SSCs are durable, preformed crowns made of stainless steel. When a baby tooth has extensive decay, an SSC can protect it until it naturally falls out. They serve as placeholders until permanent teeth erupt.
SSCs are often used after a pulpotomy (partial root canal) to restore the tooth’s function. They’re more affordable than custom-made crowns.
